The diner was empty when we walked in. It was still a tad too early for the dinner rush but too late for lunch. This little place had been here forever. It's brick walls were some of the first built in the town. Hands down it was the best place in town and Granny's was normally busy. Our little town that was tucked away in the woods wasn't known for visitors but when the truck drivers or hunters came through we always pointed them in this direction. It was also run by a pack member. It was the pack who built the entire town. Granny herself wasn't really a granny, she was the elder female wolf, wasn't an alpha and never picked a mate. She was a healer. Her wisdom led the pack in its own way. She opened this place and made the best food. It's been here ever since and always ran by a member of our pack. Sometimes when I was younger the servers would treat me to a slice of pie after school when Ronan and I would stop by. My mouth started to water at the thought of sweets.

Howling Heart - Part 1
I've lived in this town my entire life. The walls of my world had always felt so closed in. Sure, the people were friendly here, but if they knew who I was, what I was deep down, they would hunt me. Life for me and my family would be uprooted and ruined. For the past almost twenty one years I've kept my secret to myself. I'm a shifter. Not just any shifter though. No, that would be too easy. I found myself rolling my eyes often at the thought. I was the daughter of the alpha. Princess of the pack so to speak and with my birthday just a week off I was dreading it. For anyone else in the pack it wouldn't matter. The others were allowed to be themselves. Love whoever they wanted. The only rule was that they could only have offspring with other wolves. Even if the wolf wasn’t from our pack. You could screw whoever you wanted but breed with a human, and not only are they dead, but you are too. My father has no love for those he deems a traitor. My role was a little

There had always been magic in the world. Some people already knew that fact. Many others denied it. The trickle of magic was easy to find if one just looked. Sometimes it was as simple as a favorite song on the radio after a hard day or a new movie had begun streaming. Simple things that just lightened the pain of the world. Sometimes it was more. Intentional magic that people grasped at. They willed for money, love, or even just the negativity to be crushed from their lives. They bent the trickle of magic and sometimes they even got their way. There were a few though, the old souls that still walked this earth that knew of true magic. Those people knew that the Wampus cat still stalked the mountains, and that wolves could shift into the shape of men. Fairies would sometimes come whisper to children in the night, letting them know that the magic was there if they listened. Some did, and some just simply grew out of it. That was just how the world worked. Until the shift

Drama in and out of the Lab
"Shit! I'll call you back later." She hung up the cell phone. She sighed and slipped the device down into the side pocket of her purse. Jessica looked down at her shoe. The heel had broken and hung to the base. She rolled her eyes as her ankle throbbed. It wasn't broken like her shoe but it had twisted. She hobbled into her building and pulled on her white lab coat. The long trench style garment was a crisp white fabric that hung down to her knees. She had pens in one pocket of the uniform and her ID badge hidden inside the other. She nodded at the security guard that stood outside her lab doors. The microbiologist walked through the lab. She kept the habit of greeting everyone that she crossed in the office. The small company that she worked for was an international company that excelled in her field. She was currently working on a project that would hopefully change the world. The lab had been studying a fungus that they believed could be used to merge plant
It was like any other October night; the air was crisp and light, a hint of cold on its breath. Skadia stood over her cauldron mixing clockwise. She mumbled a few words as she went over the recipe again. The mix was almost done, and it was going to be the talk of the town. Each year she made a spiced pumpkin ale and gave it out to the community, anyone who wanted some was more than welcome. It brought her pride, and the others looked forward to it. This year she had been working on making it the best its ever been. Within the last few moments a thought struck her—one final thing to make it perfect. She pulled her robes up off her a

“This house is going to be it Jake, we’ll flip this one and everything will start getting so much better.” The gray fennic fox draped her arms around her fiancee. She sighed happily and nuzzled into his warm fur. The German Shepherd wrapped one arm around his mate and sucked in a deep breath. The scent of the old house filled his nostrils. It was going to take a lot of work.
Sense the two had gotten together they had dreamed of flipping houses, now that Jake stepped down from his job they seen the opportunity to do what they had always wanted to do. “You bet baby. I can’t wait to get started.” He
The high noon sun baked down on the bone white ship. The Esmeralda cut through the calm sea water, heading straight for land. The crew had been at sea since their rescue of Nina, and they were all getting a bit crowded. The salty breeze wafted fresh air across the open ship and all of the crew were basking in its arrival. Even those who had been up for the night shift took it all in as land got closer.
Calico walked up to where Loki still stood, his massive paws gripped the helm. "You know, you should get some sleep."
The massive cat grinned at her. His eyes looked tired but very alive all at the same time. He kept the ship
